This site provides information about the Skilled Trades BC Appeal Board (STBCAB), an independent, quasi-judicial appeal tribunal.
The Appeal Board was created under section 10 of the Industry Training Authority Act and is continued under section 45 of the Skilled Trades BC Act.
This website is intended to provide information about the mandate of the Appeal Board and help you better understand the appeal process. The Appeal Process section provides access to the Rules and Practice Directives and links to publications and other resources that may assist you with the appeal process.
The appeal process is public. Hearings are generally open to the public, and information provided to the Board by one party must also be provided to all other parties to the appeal.
The Board is subject to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the regulations under that Act. If a member of the public requests information on an appeal, that information may be disclosed, unless the information falls under one of the exceptions in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Parties to appeals should be aware that information supplied to the board is subject to public scrutiny and review.
